The 2026 Tour de France (July 4-26) is underway! Now for the real invisible protagonist of the Grande Boucle: the bike. From Pogačar's Colnago Y1Rs to Paul Seixas's Van Rysel RCR-F, via Remco Evenepoel's brand-new Specialized Tarmac SL9, here is the complete guide to the bikes of all 23 teams in the race.
On the menu: 18 WorldTeams + 5 ProTeams, 20 frame brands, two dominant groupsets (Shimano Dura-Ace and SRAM Red AXS), a single Campagnolo team (Cofidis, debuting the Super Record 13), and a peloton that is now 100% disc brakes, fully integrated cables and cockpits, and 28-32 mm tires. Spoiler: the entry ticket for a 2026 pro bike now exceeds €13,000, 2026 brings a major shake-up of wheel partnerships (Scope, Miche, OQUO, Ursus, Shimano, Zipp, Newmen), and two superbikes were unveiled just days before the start: the Specialized Tarmac SL9 (June 30) and the updated Canyon Aeroad CFR (June 25), credited with a record 198 W in TOUR Magazine's wind tunnel.

2026 trends: brands, groupsets, wheels
Frame brands: the Specialized-Pinarello-Canyon battle
Three brands each supply two teams at the 2026 Tour: Specialized (Red Bull, Soudal), Pinarello (Netcompany INEOS, Q36.5) and Canyon (Movistar, Alpecin). Every other team has an exclusive sponsor, for a total of 20 brands. Bianchi returns to the top level (Bahrain), Scott (NSN) and Ridley (Uno-X) mark their WorldTour comebacks, while Cube and BMC return on the ProTeam side.
| Brand | Number of teams | Teams supplied |
|---|---|---|
| Specialized | 2 | Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe, Soudal Quick-Step |
| Pinarello | 2 | Netcompany INEOS, Pinarello-Q36.5 |
| Canyon | 2 | Movistar, Alpecin-Premier Tech |
Groupsets: Shimano holds on, SRAM bites hard, Campagnolo hangs in
The balance of power is shifting clearly in 2026: Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 still equips 10 WorldTeams (out of 18) plus TotalEnergies, but lost ground over the winter. SRAM Red AXS benefited from a wave of switches (EF Education, Decathlon CMA CGM and Uno-X left Shimano, NSN arrived with a Scott/SRAM package and Pinarello-Q36.5 switched on the ProTeam side) and now sits at 8 WorldTeams + 2 ProTeams. Worth noting: Visma | Lease a Bike, often wrongly listed among the "new" SRAM teams, has actually been on Red AXS since 2024. Campagnolo launches its brand-new Super Record 13 (13-speed) on Cofidis's LOOK bikes, the only team outside the duopoly. A telling detail from the Barcelona team time trial: even the Shimano teams raced giant 64-68 tooth single chainrings, sometimes with the logos taped over.
Wheels: Vision on top, a major reshuffle of partnerships
2026 is the year of new wheel partnerships: Netcompany INEOS moves to Scope Artech (ending Princeton/Dura-Ace), Groupama-FDJ to Miche Kleos (ending Vision), Lotto-Intermarché to OQUO (Orbea's sister brand), Alpecin to Shimano Dura-Ace (after DT Swiss then Roval), Picnic PostNL to Ursus (ending DT Swiss), NSN to Zipp and TotalEnergies to Newmen. That leaves Vision on 3 teams (Bahrain, EF, XDS), Roval on 2 (Red Bull, Soudal), Zipp on 2 WorldTeams (Movistar, NSN) plus Pinarello-Q36.5. Dominant rim depths: 50-60 mm for allround, 80-88 mm for aero, full discs for TTs. Internal width climbs to 23-25 mm (compatible with 28-32 mm tires).
Tires: Continental utterly dominant
More than half the peloton rides Continental GP5000 S TR (tubeless, 28-32 mm). Pirelli (Lidl-Trek) and Vittoria (Visma, EF) complete the podium. Schwalbe gains ground through Tudor.
Superlatives: the most expensive, the lightest, the fastest
The most expensive bike
Pogačar's Colnago Y1Rs tops €16,000 at retail, Dura-Ace Di2 build and ENVE wheels included. It is followed by Netcompany INEOS's Pinarello Dogma F (~€15,000), Lidl-Trek's Trek Madone SLR Gen 8 (~€14,500) and the brand-new Specialized S-Works Tarmac SL9, listed at €13,999 (frameset €5,799).
The lightest bike
Several frames dip below 700 g: the new Tarmac SL9 claims 687 g (complete builds from 6.5 kg, and even 6.1 kg in the Roval Alpinist climbing configuration), while Visma's Cervélo R5 posts 651 g for a complete bike under 6 kg, which the mechanics must ballast to meet the 6.8 kg minimum imposed by the UCI. The Specialized Aethos, EF's Cannondale SuperSix Evo LAB71 and the Giant Propel Advanced SL (6.56 kg complete) also flirt with the regulatory limit.
The fastest bike (officially)
The watts war raged right before the start. According to TOUR Magazine's independent wind tunnel protocol, the Canyon Aeroad CFR LTD (updated June 25, RACE cockpit, 1x build) sets a record at 198 W of drag, ahead of the Van Rysel RCR-F (200 W), the Ridley Noah Fast (202 W) and the Scott Foil RC (203 W). Specialized answers on different ground with its Tarmac SL9 and its "Time to Finish" metric: rather than the wind tunnel alone, the brand simulates real races (aero + weight + rolling resistance + terrain) and claims a 28-second gain over a typical 100 km stage compared with the SL8.
The 2026 innovation
Four trends to watch: (1) last-minute launches (Tarmac SL9 on June 30, the updated Aeroad CFR on June 25) turning Grand Départ week into a bike show; (2) giant single chainrings (64-68 teeth) becoming the norm in time trials, even among Shimano teams; (3) ultra-narrow handlebars (36 cm at the drops, with Canyon's new RACE cockpit built for exactly that); (4) 32 mm tires becoming standard on cobbled stages and rough roads.
FAQ: Tour de France 2026 bikes
Which bike does Tadej Pogačar ride in 2026?
Tadej Pogačar, in yellow since stage 3 at Les Angles, and UAE Team Emirates-XRG ride mainly the Colnago Y1Rs (aero), with the V5Rs (lightweight frame) still available for the high mountains, all with Shimano Dura-Ace Di2, ENVE wheels and Continental GP5000 S TR tires. For time trials, Pogačar rides the Colnago TT1.
How many bike brands are at the 2026 Tour?
20 different brands equip the 23 teams. Specialized, Canyon and Pinarello each supply two teams; every other brand is exclusive to a single team.
Shimano or SRAM: who dominates the 2026 peloton?
Shimano keeps the lead with 10 WorldTeams on Dura-Ace Di2 (UAE, Soudal, Netcompany INEOS, Bahrain, Alpecin, FDJ, Lotto, Jayco, Picnic, XDS) plus TotalEnergies, but lost EF, Decathlon and Uno-X over the winter to SRAM, which now fields 8 WorldTeams + 2 ProTeams on Red AXS (Visma has been on SRAM since 2024). Campagnolo launches its brand-new Super Record 13 (13-speed) exclusively with Cofidis, the only team outside the duopoly.
What is the fastest bike of the 2026 Tour?
According to TOUR Magazine's wind tunnel tests, the Canyon Aeroad CFR LTD holds the record at 198 W of drag, ahead of the Van Rysel RCR-F (200 W), the Ridley Noah Fast (202 W) and the Scott Foil RC (203 W). Specialized challenges the method with its Tarmac SL9 and its "Time to Finish" approach, which simulates complete races rather than a single wind tunnel run.
What is the most expensive bike in the peloton?
Pogačar's Colnago Y1Rs tops €16,000 at retail, followed by Netcompany INEOS's Pinarello Dogma F (~€15,000), Lidl-Trek's Trek Madone SLR Gen 8 (~€14,500) and the Specialized Tarmac SL9 (€13,999).
What is the minimum weight of a professional bike?
The UCI requires a minimum of 6.8 kg for a race bike. Climbing models such as the Colnago V5Rs, the Cervélo R5 (built under 6 kg, hence ballasted for racing) or the Specialized Aethos reach that threshold with weight to spare.
Which bike does Paul Seixas ride?
Paul Seixas rides the Van Rysel RCR-F Pro (aero) and RCR Pro (climber), built with SRAM Red AXS (new for 2026, the team having left Shimano) with Swiss Side Hadron wheels and Continental GP5000 S TR tires. Van Rysel is a French brand made by Decathlon; the consumer version of the RCR-F Pro is still sold with Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 on decathlon.fr from €8,999.
Which tires at the 2026 Tour?
Continental GP5000 S TR dominates by a wide margin (more than half the peloton). Pirelli, Vittoria, Specialized Turbo, Schwalbe Pro One and Michelin Power Cup round out the field. Dominant widths: 28 to 32 mm tubeless.
With a peloton that is 100% disc brakes, near-universal wireless shifting, two superbikes unveiled on the eve of the start and equipment budgets approaching €2 million per team, the 2026 Tour, launched in Barcelona and already lit up by the Vingegaard-Pogačar duel, confirms that the Grande Boucle remains the biggest technology laboratory in world cycling.
